Heddle release: October 31, 2023

This heddle group has been waiting a long time to be released. I made some of the heddles last winter and hung on to them because I thought I needed them for an exhibition this October, but then it tuned out that the exhibit was actually in October of 2024, and what if I forgot how to make heddles by then? I held on to them though summer but eventually I just told myself to let them go. The result is a mixed set of heddles consisting of houses, people, two horses and some more abstract shapes that are reminiscent of houses, but are a bit less descriptive. These are the ones I have made most recently.

All heddles in the set are painted with milk paint, a mix of kasein protein and lime. This paint has a tendency to rub or chip off with time and wear, meaning that the years you spend weaving with your heddle will make their mark and tell the story of the hours you spent using this weaving tool.

The heddles are painted on both sides, but they only have patterns or embellishments on the front. On the backside you find a small name cipher comprised of my initials, KN.

Some of the heddles have a painted marble pattern, made by adding many layers of paint with a varying degree of viscosity. I hope to write more in depth bout this some day!

As usual, all heddles are made out of Swedish Birch.

This set consists of 30 heddles that will be released on October 31, 21.00 Swedish time. The heddles will be for sale in the webshop, not here on the blog. Here is a preview for you guys, so you can have a look at the heddles before they hit the web shop. Click or tap the images to enhance them and see the heddle measurements! If you are buying heddles from me for the first time you might want to read this blog post in preparation.

Please note that there is only one heddle of each number. They are shown in two pitures each, one with my hand for scale and one without it.

Ps. When browsing this blog post on a mobile device the text with the measurement + price info does not appear automatically when you tap a picture to enhance it. After enhancing the picture, look at the bottom right hand corner of the screen where there is a small white dot. Tap that and the info will appear!
