Weaving stick

SEK 200.00

This is a tool intended to be used when weaving bands. It is in my preferred style, a simple, flat piece of birch wood that is thin at one edge, much like a knife, so that it can be used to pack the weft in place during the weaving.

The stick has a hole at one end, intended to secure the weft yarn with when you weave your first band. This way, if (when) you drop the stick, you can just pick it up by pulling at the yarn. When you are an experienced weaver you won’t be dropping the stick, so you don’t need to fasten it to the weft yarn.

Like my heddles, these weaving sticks are made of Swedish birch, felled by my father and split, hewn and carved my me. The sticks have a thin coat of linseed oil.
