Heddle release: April 24, 2023

Spring is slowly but surely arriving here in Sweden and I have been looking forward to making a set of bluebell heddle pendants to celebrate its arrival! This set also includes some golden-roofed houses, because I wanted to try put a new style of carving tiny window panes which I think turned out quite nice. All heddles are made from birch wood and painted with a line seed oil paint and shellac mixed with a golden pigment found in my grandfathers stash.

The bluebell heddles are all working tools, but the smallest ones are perhaps more suitable to wear as ornamental pendants than to consider being trusty weaving workhorses. This is especially true for heddle no. 1, 3 and 16.

One thing I struggle with is how to convey the size of my heddles. I know a picture with a hand for scale would be the best for comparison but my winter paws aren’t fit for pictures right now. Instead I used a matchbox, with the hope that matchboxes are something most people can relate to! Here’s the smallest and the biggest heddles from the set.

This set consists of 24 heddles that will be released on April 24, 21.00 Swedish time. The heddles will be for sale in the webshop, not here on the blog. Here is a preview for you guys, so you can have a look at the heddles before they hit the web shop. Click or tap the images to enhance them and see the heddle measurements! If you are buying heddles from me for the first time you might want to read this blog post in preparation.

Ps. When browsing this blog post on a mobile device the text with the measurement + price info does not appear automatically when you tap a picture to enhance it. After enhancing the picture, look at the bottom right hand corner of the screen where there is a small white dot. Tap that and the info will appear!
